Internships

1/8

Indigo Mountain is dedicated to providing a high quality of care for each and every animal that comes to the sanctuary as their last refuge. To provide this care we rely heavily on active volunteers and interns who are dedicated to the animals.

Our interns gain experience in the sanctuary field and receive valuable experience in animal husbandry.   Interns learn about nutrition, prepare diets, clean habitats, monitor behavior and participate in training and enrichment.   Some will learn about habitat design, maintenance and construction.  Some will be asked to participate in outreach programs.

We currently participate in the Pikes Peak Community College Zoo Keeping Technology program.  We also welcome students enrolled in formal zoology, animal management, biology, veterinary technician programs from other schools to apply.

Our internships coincide with the school year and only a few interns are accepted during any one semester or sequence. Positions fill up one to two semesters ahead of time so it is best to get your application in early.

The internship positions are NOT paid positions and there is NO on-site housing available.  Transportation to and from the sanctuary is not provided.
